Rooftop solar PV across agricultural buildings

Equestrian farm, Lancashire

MCN delivered a large-scale rooftop solar PV installation across multiple agricultural buildings at a rural equestrian property in Lancashire. The system was designed to significantly offset the site's energy consumption, reducing reliance on grid supply for the farm's day-to-day operations.

Scope of Works

Full design, supply and installation of rooftop solar PV array across multiple building elevations

Installation of aluminium mounting rail framework with stainless steel fixings

DC cabling and corrugated conduit cable management routed through mounting rails

String inverter installation and AC connection to existing site distribution

Installation of generation meter and monitoring system

Full testing, commissioning and DNO notification in accordance with G99 requirements

The Installation

The array spans two principal roof sections of the main farm building, with panels arranged in four zones to maximise generation output. Drone photography captured the scale of the completed installation – a dense field of monocrystalline panels covering the full available roof area. Cable management was carried out to a high standard throughout, with all DC wiring enclosed in corrugated conduit and routed neatly through the rail framework to protect against UV degradation and mechanical damage.

Delivery

Works were completed in a single phased programme, with the team working around the operational requirements of the equestrian facility. The installation was fully commissioned and connected to the grid ahead of programme.
