MCN delivered the full electrical installation for a commercial unit in Leeds, including the design and build of a new high-specification distribution board, power and lighting circuits, containment infrastructure and final connections. The specification called for premium Schneider Electric Acti9 protective devices throughout, providing best-in-class protection across all final circuits.

Scope of Works

  • Design and installation of new multi-way commercial distribution board in recessed blockwork enclosure
  • Galvanised steel trunking and cable containment infrastructure throughout the unit
  • Installation of Schneider Electric Acti9 iCV40H VigiARC arc fault detection RCBOs (AFDD) on all final circuits
  • Schneider iCT 40A contactors for time-controlled lighting and plant switching circuits
  • Surge protection device (SPD) installation at the DB incoming supply
  • Neat conductor dressing and structured cable management within the distribution board
  • Power and lighting circuit installation, socket outlets and final connections
  • Full testing and certification to BS 7671:2018 + A2:2022

Equipment & Specification

The distribution board was built to a high specification using Schneider Electric Acti9 devices throughout. VigiARC arc fault detection technology was specified on all final circuits, offering a significant uplift in fire safety protection over standard RCBO devices. Contactors provide automated switching for plant and lighting loads, and a class II SPD was installed at the origin to protect against transient overvoltages. The board was mounted flush in a purpose-prepared recess with galvanised trunking feeding containment runs across the building.

Delivery

The installation was completed within a tight programme to support the client's fitout schedule, with all circuits tested, certified and handed over on time.
